Essential Oils & OrganizationOver the past few years, I have become interested in wellness, particularly as it applies to organization. Recently, I had the opportunity to speak to Julie Peacock who integrates essential oils into her practice of yoga, nutrition, and wellness. According to Julie, essential oils protect against seasonal and environmental threats. They are nontoxic and don’t pollute your home, water supply or the environment. They are also multi-purpose and inexpensive.

Here are 6 essential oils Julie identified that can be used to clean and refresh your home:

  • Lemon – Can be used to dissolve sticky residue, polish chrome, and remove crayon from walls. When diffused, it adds a clean, bright aroma to the air.
  • Peppermint – Can be used to repel spiders and ants. Spray a mist in their hiding places to rid your home of these pests. When diffused, the aroma promotes energy and focus.
  • Wild Orange – Can be used to de-grease and shine. When diffused, its aroma is happy, brightening and fresh.
  • Eucalyptus – Can be added to your washing machine to freshen bedding and laundry. When diffused, it helps open airways.
  • Melaleuca – Can be used to freshen bathrooms and hard surfaces.
  • Lavender – Can be used to promote relaxation. Spray a mist onto bedding to promote a good night of sleep. It can also be added to laundry.
